Baiàn, seaside holiday home in Boccadasse
Baiàn is a holiday home in the Genoese district of the old village of Boccadasse, recently renovated with luxury fittings but retaining its period charm. Two bedrooms with a wonderful sea view, two bathrooms and a living space with fully equipped kitchen, sofa bed and a small terrace.
Baiàn is set in a one-of-a-kind location: Boccadasse is an ancient fishing village, highly picturesque with its close-packed, pastel-coloured houses, which has retained its old-fashioned, workaday feel (some of its inhabitants are still active fishermen) but nonetheless offers a range of up-to-date attractions – there are many cozy bars and excellent local restaurants by the beach.
The Baiàn holiday home is named after our great grandfather, Giovanni Battista Oliva, called Baiàn in Genoese dialect, a fisherman born and raised in Boccadasse, like all our family. The apartment has the same twofold qualities as Boccadasse itself – tradition (it has been restored without altering its period feel and appearance) and luxury (the pleasure of living in a modern space with every kind of comfort and high quality fittings and furnishings).
- On the first floor, two double or twin rooms (each with room for an additional child’s camp bed), both with a wonderful view over the sea, the village and the headland of Portofino, and a bathroom with shower;
- On the ground floor, a shared living area, with a fully equipped kitchen, a bathroom with shower, a closet, a sofa bed for two persons and a small terrace at street level overlooking the village and beach.
- Free wi-fi connection.
Access to Baiàn is from street level through the living area, or directly on the first floor through the main entrance in Via Aurora.
From Baiàn you can walk right out onto the shingle beach, or stroll into Boccadasse village with its bars, pubs and restaurants, where you can have a seaside breakfast, enjoy the local speciality of focaccia or dine with the superb local cuisine, in which fish and seafood naturally take pride of place.
Baiàn offers the possibility of staying and living in a very quiet environment, where guests’ privacy is protected; the owners will give you the keys and, after the usual explanations and instructions, will leave you to make yourself entirely at home in the apartment. At the same time, the owners will always be on hand to offer advice as to how to get the best our of your stay in Genoa: what to visit, where to eat, how to get around, etc.
Boccadasse offers a variety of bars, pubs and restaurants. Not to be missed: the typical ‘focaccia genovese’ at A’Pestuna, the daily fish (also to take away) at Ittiturismo, the excellent pizza and ‘farinata’ at Antico Borgo, whisky/beers/rums from all over the world at Tartana; icecream at Amedeo, fashionable aperitifs on the beach at Strambata and Dindi, and much more! Please note also that beach chairs are available for hire.
The nearest motorway exit is Genova Nervi (A12), 5 km from Boccadasse.
Nearest train stations are Genova Sturla (1 km) and Genova Brignole (3 km).
Smoking is strictly forbidden in the house, but you may smoke outside on the small terrace, close to the beach. Sorry, but pets are not allowed in the house. The apartment will be cleaned every 3 days.
